Chiba Restaurant is constantly crowded with customers. The keys to their ongoing popularity are threefold: Great sushi, prompt service, and very reasonable prices. Having three such goals is easy to say but hard to achieve. Chiba meets all three. The restaurant is bustling with excitement and energy.
Sushi Deluxe $22.00
It is very rare to get such high quality sushi. Just try some and see for yourself. Freshness is essential to sweet shrimp! The texture of their luscious sweet shrimp is firm yet soft and creamy. You will also enjoy the delicious flavor of rich and creamy sea urchin roe. Japanese horse mackerel is also very refreshing. And do not forget their exceptionally succulent salmon roe sushi. Chiba has a unique creation that combines salmon and caviar and is just gorgeous! The salty caviar and fatty sweet salmon complement each other and are in perfect harmony. Last, but not least, the Sushi Deluxe also features extra thick toro (fatty tuna).
Tender toro melts in your mouth and it tastes just heavenly. Each fish is purchased from a vendor that specializes in that particular kind of fish. That is why a high level of quality is guaranteed. Not only is the seafood that is used in the Sushi Deluxe great, but their sushi rice is wonderful as well. The moment you put a piece of their sushi into your mouth, you notice the little rice ball nicely unfolds. Their chef skillfully makes sushi with a perfect balance between the seafood on top and the rice underneath for each and every customer. Now, that is amazing craftsmanship. You will definitely rediscover the splendor of sushi at Chiba Restaurant. In order to fully appreciate the chef¡Çs skills and thoughtfulness, it is a common courtesy to eat sushi as soon as it is served.
Lobster Roll ($16.50) and Vegetarian Sushi
It is important to have pride in one¡Çs craftsmanship. But it is also equally important to listen to customers¡Ç voices and be bold and innovative when creating new items. Their lobster roll is a good example of such an innovative creation. It is wrapped in thinly sliced cucumber instead of regular dried seaweed and is very refreshing. With its crisp cucumber covering, it is almost like eating a salad. The succulent filling is fresh lobster and fresh scallop mixed together with some marinate sauce, which perfectly complements the cucumber wrapping. Even the most loyal seaweed lover should try this popular dish.
Their vegetarian sushi, on the other hand, was created in the hopes of promoting the popularity of Japanese vegetables. Shungiku (a Japanese herb), for instance, has a relatively strong aroma. But it provides a nice accent for sushi with its faint bitterness and unique texture. The sushi with shiitake mushrooms is also highly recommended. Slightly cooked and warm shiitake mushrooms create a wonderfully appetizing aroma. The rich butter flavor, refreshing ponzu sauce (citrus seasoned vinegar), and tangy momiji-oroshi (grated Japanese radish with red pepper) all complement the flavor of the shiitake mushrooms. Fluffy sushi rice completes this special sushi creation proudly presented by Chiba.
Chiba Restaurant has been in business for 34 years and two generations of the family. Japanese tradition and culinary techniques are continuously refined at this restaurant. Meticulous and solicitous service, commitment to quality food (which even includes the water used for cooking and brewing tea), as well as the trans-generational succession of such wonderful culinary skills all support the long-lasting popularity of Chiba.
(Regular water purifiers still leave some deposits. Chiba only uses ¡Èpure water¡É that is devoid of all such impurities.)
