Goro is a modern looking Japanese restaurant in
Irvine. The Shimizu family opened this restaurant
20 years ago, and Mitsuyoshi Shimizu is the owner
chef. From creating the menu to the interior design,
his family put their heads together in creating this
inviting restaurant. Goro is strategically located
between the 405 and 5 freeways, where a lot of Japanese
corporations have offices. The name of the restaurant
comes from the nickname of Chef Mitsuyoshi’s
son. His eldest son along with a professional sushi
chef were in charge of the sushi bar in the early
days of the restaurant, while his wife took control
of the kitchen. His son has further refined his culinary
skills over the years, and now works as a successful
chef in Denver, Colorado. Goro has the homey and
comfortable atmosphere of a family-owned restaurant.
Locals flock to the restaurant to enjoy the delicious
food as well as the attentive service. In addition
to bottomless rice, everything comes in such generous
portions that you will probably go home with plenty
of leftovers. The wide variety of combination items
reflect the tastes of their customers. For Japanese
cuisine afficionados, the Japanese menu lists extra
side dishes that go extremely well with sake. With
its friendly service and homey style, it is no wonder
that Goro Japanese restaurant is so popular. |
