A store lighted with natural light from the sky window
Mendokoro Ebisu has a high ceiling and a very open atmosphere. The brightness, cleanliness, and the light coming in from the cost-effective sky window and big windows make the atmosphere comfortable. It is like an open terrace, so the customers are mostly families or a group of friends. Ebisu started in 1989, marking their 17th year. Yet they are able to provide the same quality ramen because they undergo technique training once a year from Japan. You can see the owner’s particular preference in adjusting the taste that may have changed over time. Every menu item is homemade, and includes ramen, Japanese soba, udon, meal sets, okonomiyaki, and sweets such as anmitsu and taiyaki.
Ebisu Special Reimen: &6.50
Ebisu ramen has a total of 21 different types. Among them, the owner recommended the Ebisu Special Reimen. This special is topped with homemade chashu, string Omelette, cucumber, lettuce, tomato, and seaweed. The thinly cut chashu is rich, yet leaves a refreshing aftertaste. It is surprisingly juicy and soft. The straight noodles catch the soy sauce and vinegar dip and the mayonnaise can mix together in your mouth. It is actually quite unusual to use mayonnaise as a topping, but it exceptionally went well with the salad-like toppings and the seaweed. The chilled Ebisu Special Reimen is not limited to summer, and can be enjoyed all year long.

Pork Katsu & Kushi Katsu Combination: $8.95
They list seven different types of set menus as “Today’s Special,” but you can order them any time, night or day. The most popular of these is the Pork Katsu combination. The freshly fried katsu is crispy and crunches audibly when you bite into it. The pork they use is cut fat and very satisfying. If the pork katsu wasn’t enough, it even comes with kushi katsu. Likewise, the kushi katsu is wrapped with crunchy breading, but you should take note on the onion on the kushi. The juice caught in the breading immediately spreads through your mouth. The rich sauce used on the katsu is sweet and sour, and goes great with fried meat and vegetables.
