As you step inside the
restaurant, what first catches your eye is the word ¡ÈKatana,¡É
which means sword in Japanese, emblazoned on a scarlet wall.
This wall is emblematic of Katana Sushi & Ramen and
gives an upbeat atmosphere to the restaurant. The basic
color scheme of the interior is red and white. This includes
the color choices for table clothes, lanterns and other
accessories. Other decorative objects such as the short
split curtain or ¡Ènoren¡É and wall ornaments blend in perfect
harmony with the overall interior design. In a way, the
ambience suggests the ways that Japanese culture is becoming
a part of the American tradition. |

Mexican
Burrito $9.95
In order to accommodate the demographics of the area, the
chef has come up with a very unique sushi roll. A sheet
of glutinous soy paper, which resembles the tortillas used
for actual Mexican burritos, holds sushi rice, avocado (one
of the staple ingredients in Mexican cuisine), tuna (one
of the most typical sushi items), and much more firmly together.
A pinch of jalapeno and hot sauce give this dish a wonderful
kick. Although these are unusual ingredients for sushi rolls,
the resulting flavor sensation is pleasantly surprising.
This very unique fusion dish is well worth trying. |
