MITAKI has long
been a popular Japanese restaurant for the local residents
of Long Beach. They opened a branch in downtown Los Angeles
in August 2006. In the middle of the busy commercial district,
MITAKI offers hearty Japanese food in a clean and cozy space.
MITAKI provides food in a very convenient fashion, so that
business people can enjoy a quick lunch easily. Yet their
dishes using homemade sauces and dressings taste very authentic.
Their lunch specials, which come with a drink, are available
from 11:00 am through 3:00 pm and are highly recommended!
MITAKI prepares five different lunch specials, all of which
are reasonably priced from $5.00 and up. Customers enjoy
new varieties each day.

Starting
this month, MITAKI is open for dinner, too. That is especially
good news for those business people working overtime who
crave a late bite. |

Fire Crunch Roll
$8.96
This is MITAKI”Ēs most popular dish. It is a sushi roll made
with freshly-fried shrimp tempura in the middle. The shrimp
tempura itself is crispy outside but firm and plump inside.
Spicy tuna and avocado with mayonnaise are also included
inside this sushi roll, adding some zing and mildness at
the same time. It is served slightly warm, because the roll
uses tempura right out of the fryer. Although a variety
of ingredients are rolled into this dish, it all fits together,
tasting very coherent and flattering the five senses ? maybe
their sushi rice holds the secret in binding everything
together so perfectly. It is no wonder that the Fire Crunch
Roll is so popular.

Happy Box (with Miso Soup) $9.98
This is a compilation of MITAKI”Ēs most popular items ? it
is truly a feast! Tender and juicy teriyaki chicken is smothered
with their original sweet teriyaki sauce, making an appetizing
accompaniment for steamed rice. Plump and tasty firm shrimp
or soft and sweet vegetables are discovered under the crunchy
batter of their tempura. The batter is on the thick side,
which helps their tempura stay crisp even after it cools
down. A homemade dipping sauce for the tempura perfectly
complements this dish. The variety of tastes inside their
california rolls is tempered with a moderate amount of mayonnaise
and leaves a refreshing aftertaste. |

|
Compared with
california rolls from other restaurants, their roll contains
relatively a small amount of sushi rice. So you just cannot
stop eating until they are gone even if you are almost full.
All this along with a bowl of miso (soybean paste) soup
makes MITAKI”Ēs Happy Box a must try menu item! |
