Oomasa gives you a nostalgic feeling when you go into the store. That is understandable, considering that this sushi store has been in business for over 130 years. The fragrance of vinegar once you go through the doors stimulates your appetite. There is an oval shaped sushi counter in the middle of the store, where friendly sushi chefs greet you. Again, there is a dignified ranma on the sushi counter. This is actually imported from Japan. The taste and spirit of the experiences as a sushi chef in Japan is seen everywhere in the store, and you feel like you are really in a sushi restaurant in Japan.
The Oomasa special chirashi sushi is as attractive as it is delicious. There are over ten different types of fish, including maguro (tuna), hirame (flat fish), salmon, ikura (salmon roe), and hokki clams. The fresh and thick slices lie on a huge bed of sushi rice. The low price of $16.00 for this much food is simply amazing. “Expensive and delicious food is a common thing,” says the current owner. “But I want to give something else that is different to my customers.” Therefore he is constantly thinking about how to obtain cheap and delicious ingredients. The chirashi sushi has high-end fish, plus a few more other fish, so it is very economical. Oomasa is also known for their very good sushi rice. Each grain of rice has a luster, and is very soft. Every bite you take is filled with the sweetness of the rice. Fresh, delicious fish on top of tasty sushi rice. This chirashi sushi is definitely something you should try.

I would like to introduce the popular Oomasa combo set as well. With tempura, teriyaki chicken, sushi, salad, sunomono, rice, and miso soup, it is only a reasonable $11.00. This is a favorite among the locals, so much that at lunchtime there is a huge line outside of the store. Most of these in line are repeat customers. Oomasa prepares piping hot tempura sauce, so when you dip your freshly fried tempura in it; the sauce penetrates through the breading and melts in your mouth. The teriyaki sauce is an Oomasa specialty. It is not heavy, but a rich, sweet and spicy sauce that goes well with the chicken. There are other items on the menu, so I suggest you come out and try them.
