Grilled Mediterranean Tofu

  • 12 ounces. House Foods Premium Extra-Firm Tofu or Organic Extra-Firm Tofu
  • 1/4 cup. extra-virgin olive oil
  • 1 lemon. Grated rind and juice
  • 2 cloves garlic. minced
  • 2 tablespoons. minced fresh herbs, such as parsley, mint, thyme, oregano, sage
  • 1 tablespoon. Dijon mustard
  • 1/2 teaspoon. sea salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon. freshly ground pepper
Instruction

    Makes Four Servings

  1. Drain and rinse tofu; pat dry. Cut the block crosswise into eight 1/2-inch-thick slices and place in a shallow dish.
  2. Whisk olive oil, lemon rind and juice, garlic, thyme, mustard, salt, and pepper in a small bowl; measure out and reserve 2 tablespoons olive oil mixture for basting tofu. Pour remaining marinade over tofu, turning to coat. Cover and refrigerate at least 30 minutes or overnight, turning occasionally.
  3. Preheat grill for medium-high heat. Remove tofu from marinade and discard marinade. Place tofu on a lightly oiled grill rack; grill, basting occasionally with reserved olive oil mixture, until lightly browned, about 3 to 4 minutes on each side. Serve immediately.
